I just came across this phenomenal article about the Sharing Movement (or Sharing Economy).
If you don’t know about this movement you really should take a look.
Sharing could just be our saving grace!
I have a great analogy for the Sharing Movement.
I’d like to SHARE it with you…
Back when the Internet was fairly new, we heard about, and were then very gradually introduced to a strange new concept. Similar to the new sharing concept, it was received by us with a great deal of skepticism, doubt and down right apprehension. Fast forward about a decade. It’s now grabbed a hold of us and I’ll go as far to say, delighted us. Do you remember what it was?
Well, it was this strange shopping concept, called on-line shopping . Can you remember your thoughts about on-line shopping when you first heard about it?
I think most of us thought it wouldn’t fly, or that maybe it could work in certain situations. It was really hard to imagine it becoming what it has become today. I don’t think any of us thought it could ever replace brick and mortar shopping, which is now the fear of many (brick and mortar establishments especially.) We all thought we had to touch and feel everything before we purchased it. We couldn’t imagine trusting remote retailers to provide the same quality products, services and customer service. The thought of sending our credit card and personal information over the internet was scary.
Well NOW. What do you think about on-line shopping today? It’s as American as Apple Pie or as English as Afternoon Tea or as Italian as Cannoli, or (well you get the picture.)
That’s how I feel about the Sharing Movement. But, by all means, let’s just wait and see what happens in the next decade. We may all be happily sharing and caring and connected to one another in ways we never dreamed possible. Good Gracious, wouldn’t that be something?
All I can think to say is…please “Let it be done!” Oh, and let’s keep big business out of it; for surely they have the potential to ruin a good thing. Make no mistakes, they want in. They know a good & profitable thing when they see it. Don’t let them profitize our future grace.
Now, click the link to find out all about the Sharing Movement. This is by far the best article I’ve seen on the subject; and please do let me know what you think about it. I really want to hear from you. In all truth, I spend way to much time talking to myself; it’s embarrassing!
Here’s that great article which came to me via twitter @shareable (which is also a fantastic resource to follow on this subject):
